Opening Spring/Summer 2022!

Wrong Way Campground is currently under construction with plans to open in Spring/Summer of 2022. But you can still book a cabin for dates after August 31st, 2022. Earlier dates will be opened up as we get closer to opening day.

Please note that computer drawings were used to show you what we are building. However, this is subject to change, especially when it comes to colors, finishes, fixtures, and furniture. We will replace the computer drawings with actual photos as soon as possible.

  • Where does the Wrong Way name come from?

    The French Broad River is a big part of our origin story and the guest experience. The name ‘Wrong Way’ is a nod to a local raft guide story about the French Broad River being one of only two rivers in the world, along with the Nile, that flow South to North... which is the ‘Wrong Way’. It's up to you to decide whether you will believe a raft guide’s story. ;-)

  • What is your cancellation and no-show policy?

    Any reservations cancelled more than 7 days prior to arrival will receive a full refund. Any reservations cancelled less than seven days prior to arrival will receive a 50% refund. Any reservations cancelled less than 24 hours prior to check-in (3pm) on the day of arrival will be charged the full amount of the stay.

    If a guest does not arrive at Wrong Way Campground and does not cancel their reservation by check-out time on the day after their scheduled arrival date, the no-show guest gives up their reservation for any remaining nights and management can make these nights available for booking by another guest.

  • Do you allow pets?

    Several of our cabins are designated as pet-friendly. A pet fee of $25/pet/night will automatically be added to the per night rate when you indicate how many animals you have with you. While on the property, we ask that all pets be kept on-leash and closely manged by their humans. There is a dog park at the French Broad River Park, which is within walking distance of the campground.

  • Are there TVs in the cabins?

    No. We made the decision to exclude TVs from the cabins in order to encourage guests to get outside to enjoy the attractions, businesses, and activities that are right out your front door. If you HAVE to be inside, read/write a book, play a game, gather in the River Lodge... you've got other options. You’re welcome.

  • What amenities do the cabins include?

    All our cabins include a full bathroom with shower, queen bed, queen sleeper-sofa, seated workspace, mini-fridge, microwave, electric kettle, HVAC unit, private balcony/deck, high-speed WiFi, and dedicated parking. Everything you need, and nothing you don't.

  • What time is check-in and check-out?

    Check-in time is after 3pm and Check-out time is before 11am.

  • Do you have any RV sites?

    We are primarily a cabin campground and do not offer RV hookups, but our friends down the road at Wilson's RV Park might be able to accomodate you. Tell 'em we sent you!

  • Is there anything fun to do at or near Wrong Way?

    Hell yes! We have several experiences that can be reserved through us or one of our vetted experience partners... Or you can explore our map of local recommended attractions, businesses, and activities.

  • When is the River Lodge open?

    The River Lodge is open and staffed from 7am to 10pm every day. A hotline number is provided to guests for any after-hours emergencies.

  • Do you have an exercise area?

    We have the best outdoor exercise area in all of Western NC! We are located right across the street from the French Broad River Greenway, which includes walking/running/biking paths, cycling velodrome, sand volleyball courts, basketball court, baseball field, lawn bowling court, roller-hockey rink, playground, and public river access. We are also located right next door to the ClimbMax rock climbing center which has indoor and outdoor climbing walls. 

  • What are your cleaning practices?

    We use eco-friendly cleaning products and follow the CDC’s recommendations for commercial cleaning practices. However, To limit waste and guest interruption, we only clean cabins upon guest departure. While we do not charge a fee for cleaning the cabin upon departure, guests can request cabin cleaning during their stay for an additional fee of $25/day.

  • Where is your dumpster?

    We don’t have one. We try to limit landfill waste in everything we do. This means selecting items with minimal and/or recyclable packaging. We encourage guests to make use of the recycling bins that are placed in the lodge, on the property, and in the cabins.

  • How close is the campground to the river?

    The campground property is located on the French Broad River Greenway directly across the road from the river and recreation path, which can easily be accessed by a crosswalk at the East end of the property. A public river access point is only 100 yards from the property.

  • Are your cabins wheelchair accessible?

    Cabin #1 is fully ADA compliant and can be accessed from the parking lot by a gravel path. Click here to check availability and pricing.

  • Is it quiet in the cabins?

    We are an unconventional, urban campground that is convenient to a number of popular Asheville destinations. But that convenience also means we don't have the seclusion and silence of most traditional campgrounds. Luckily, our cabins are constructed of Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs) that provide excellent sound insulation from the nearby road noise.
